AUSTIN (KXAN) - The answer to the annual question -- "What are you doing for Valentine's Day?" -- might depend not only on who you love, but also on where you live.
At least that's the word from two disparate recent studies that appear to have relevance for two local cities.
According to a report this month on Amazon.com, Round Rock is Texas' most romantic city and the 11th most romantic in the nation. No other Texas town cracked the Top 20.
Austin, meanwhile, also got high marks for amoré, albeit of a spicier flavor. According to AshleyMadison.com, the dating website for married folks looking for a little off-the-books action, Austin is America's second most unfaithful city. Washington, D.C., as it turns out, is the nation's capital of catting around.
So what makes Round Rock so randy and Austin so adulterous?
According to Ashley Madison, its dating site saw a surge in sign-ups in 2012 when more than 20,000 people with partners signed up. The sites analytics show that Austin also has more Web surfers seeking action past 11 p.m.
Round Rock earned its ranking through its purchasing habits, Amazon said. The study tallied up sales of things like romance novels -- online and traditional -- and albums by crooners like Dean Martin, Barry White and Luther Vandross.
