AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Trail Foundation will hold a presentation to celebrate a local community partner's significant donation that completed The Trail Foundation's "Campaign for the Trail" project.

The gift will complete the entire $5 million campaign and will be specifically used for the Boardwalk Trail Completion Project, according to officials.

The project will bring a new modern trail to extend out into the waters of Lady Bird Lake between South Congress Avenue and Lakeshore Park. It will bring the trail around the lakeshore full circle.

The “Campaign for the Trail” includes a $3 million capital fundraising effort for the Boardwalk Trail Completion Project at the Ann Butler Hike and Bike Trail.

According to the City of Austin website, the portion of the trail funded by public-private partnership is estimated to be completed at the end of 2013.
