KXAN (AUSTIN) - Politics is not a topic some people like to bring up over a beer.
But Greg White is making his vote clear at the Flying Saucer . Monday, he ordered a pint in a President Obama glass.
"Basketball fan, beer drinker, all around good guy," said White.
Governor Mitt Romney fans are casting their vote with a cold one in a commemorative glass, too. While the restaurant's pint poll is all in good fun, customers at all of their locations combined have called the winner in the last three Presidential races.
As of Monday morning, President Obama was up with 480 votes in Austin and Romney was falling way behind with 283. But that's not the case in every restaurant.
"I know in our San Antonio location it's back and forth every single day," said Flying Saucer General Manager Ted Rowell.
When the votes were tallied between all their restaurants Monday, Romney was leading by about 200 votes.
For the coffee drinkers, 7-Eleven is providing a fun way to cast votes in a race dubbed the "7-Election." Customers can choose between blue President Obama coffee cups and red Mitt Romney cups. The only choice at a convenient store near the Triangle on North Lamar was Romney. The cashier said sold out of President Obama cups last week.
But Romney is making a comeback at the Woof Gang Bakery in Central Austin. Dog lovers can choose from decorated treats shaped like bones that read "Bark" Obama and "Mutt" Romney. Monday, there was a rush on Romney bones.
"Definitely the closer the Election gets, the more evenly split the bones become," said owner Katy McDougall.
The shop has been busy keeping the handmade bones stocked. So far, 17 Barks and 12 Mutts are tallied on the 'official election results' dry erase board.
"Anything could happen."
