AUSTIN (KXAN) - Last summer's drought killed the concert and fireworks show that are a tradition for Austinites. But the Austin Symphony announced Thursday that this year's show is "on."
The largest Independence Day celebration in the state will happen as in years past at Auditorium Shores. The 36th annual event is planned, produced and performed entirely by the Austin Symphony , with help of local sponsors. H-E-B is the major sponsor for 2012.
Seventy-millimeter cannons of the Texas National Guard Salute Battery will join the festivities.
The orchestra will perform at 8:30 p.m., followed by “mile-high” fireworks at approximately 9:30 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
