AUSTIN (KXAN) - Traffic was diverted off of southbound Interstate Highway 35 between Oltorf and Woodland streets midday Wednesday due to a chain-reaction crash with injuries that involved an 18-wheeler and four other vehicles.

Austin Police Department said a PT Cruiser rear-ended a black Ford Fiesta, which in turn struck a red Scion. The Scion spun out of control and hit a white Chevy pickup truck towing a horse trailer. The trailer next struck the Scion, causing it to flip over. And finally, an 18-wheeler hit the Fiesta.

Four people transported to area hospitals with minor injuries. A total of nine were evaluated by Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services.

The incident happened during the noon hour.
