AUSTIN (KXAN) - Last year, American's spent $11.4 billion on Black Friday - the day after Thanksgiving.
Electronics are a big item on many shoppers list and you can always count on a long line at stores, like Best Buy.
Shoppers were camped out loaded with survival gear like water, food and of course games to pass the time.
"Some people think we're crazy but when I'm watching my TV it won't be so crazy, " Sarah Vogeley said.
Vogeley and her boyfriend claim the title of first in line at Best Buy off highway 183, camping out nearly 36 hours by the time doors open.
"Last year we did it and got a lot of stuff out of it and this year I wanted my own TV, " said Vogeley.
Others extreme shoppers said it's not just about the material things but the fun experience of it all.
"There are a lot of nice people you get to meet, new people you get to bond with, " said Black Friday shopper, Cassie Ogden.
Best Buy handed out tickets for big items like TV's, computers and other popular items to those in line to avoid in fights that have occurred in past years.
