AUSTIN (KXAN) - A second teenager has died from injuries suffered when a truck that was reported stolen crashed in the early hours of Oct. 2.

Police said Tuesday that 16-year-old Allyiah Asher died Friday. The driver, 17-year-old Rodney Penson, died at the scene. His name was released Monday. Three others were in the truck, but their names were not available Tuesday.

According to police, a 2007 Nissan Frontier truck wrecked in the 2200 block of Garden Street, near Metz Elementary School in Austin.

Police at the time said an officer attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver of the Nissan pickup accelerated. According to reports, the vehicle ran several stop signs, lost control and left the roadway, hitting a tree on the driver's side door.

The three passengers inside the truck were trapped, and it took nearly two hours to get everyone out.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Austin Police Department's Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at 512-974-8266.
