AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police are still trying to track down the driver who they said ran away after a car crash that left a 20-year-old dead.

Haley Elizabeth Nowak died in the crash in the 4700 block of Twilight Shadow Drive in Southwest Austin at 3:04 a.m. Sunday. That's near FM 1826.

Police said an initial investigation showed the driver of a blue 2008 Ford Mustang heading west in that area lost control and veered off the road, hitting a mailbox and a light pole.

There appeared to be heavy damage to the passenger side of the car.

The driver ran away and has not been found.

Anyone with information is asked to call Austin Police Department’s Vehicular Homicide Unit detectives at 512-974-6981. This is Austin’s 41st traffic death of the year.

At this time in 2011, there were 30 traffic deaths.
