AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Austin Fire Department responded to a 2-alarm fire at the Sheraton in downtown Austin which turned out to be an issue with their AC system.

Firefighters responded to the Sheraton , located at 701 E 11th Street around 8:00p.m. Sunday.

Fire officials tell KXAN someone noticed smoke on the 9th floor and pulled the fire alarm. Responding firefighters evacuate the 8th, 9th and 10th floors.

Crews believe an AC malfunction may have caused smoke to fill the lobby and several floors, evacuations have been ordered.

Firefighters investigated those floors to assure there was no fire danger. The scene has been cleared and patrons on the three affected floors will be allowed back into their rooms.
