TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) - The North Lake Travis Fire Department kept busy overnight, dealing with two separate fires that killed one person and destroyed a home.
The first happened on Indian Chief Drive in Cedar Park, and the second blaze broke out in Jonestown.
The Cedar Park fire broke out at 12:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Indian Chief Drive, killing a man. Travis County Sheriff's spokesman Roger Wade said there will be an autopsy later Thursday to find out how the man died.
The man had reportedly managed to get out of the house before he collapsed and died outside. Fire Marshall officials are investigating to see how the fire started.
The blaze in Jonestown happened at 1:21 a.m. in the attic of a home at 7605 Calcutta Run Drive. The fire left a large, $1.5 million home a total loss.
Austin Fire Department crews helped fight that fire, and an investigation is under way.
