Woman found following disturbance

AUSTIN - Austin police say they found a woman who they thought was kidnapped at an apartment complex in northwest Austin.

Police say a maintenance worker at the Balcones Ranch Apartments in the 13000 block of North US Hwy 183 called 911 shortly after 8am Friday after hearing banging, yelling and a woman screaming. The caller told dispatchers he then saw a vehicle leaving from building six at the complex.

Austin police thought Deborah Defazio, 47, may have been kidnapped by a man named Mark Richetts, 39.

Officers said there was evidence of a disturbance inside the apartment.

Defazio was located around 11am Friday. No other details were provided, but police did say that she was not kidnapped, as they first thought.
