(KXAN) - Bank robbery in South Austin

AUSTIN - Austin police responded to the scene of a bank robbery around 3:45 p.m. on Monday.

The robbery was taking place at a Wells Fargo in the 1900 block of William Cannon. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his late 20s to early 30s. He is about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 200 pounds. He has short brown hair and brown eyes. He was unshaven. He was last seen wearing eyeglasses, a burnt orange shirt and a greenish-fray baseball cap.

Hit-and-run arrest made

AUSTIN - Austin police have arrested Sergio Roberto Reyes, 32, for failure to stop and render aid.

He allegedly kept on driving on April 4 after hitting a 5-year-old girl with his car. The girl was treated and released from Dell Children's Hospital with minor cuts on her elbow.

Taylor drug arrests for bust

TAYLOR, Texas - An investigation began in March 2007 with DEA- Austin, Bastrop County Sheriff's Office, Williamson County Sheriff's Office, Round Rock Police Department and Texas DPS Narcotics Service into the drug trafficking organization of Benito Hernandez of Taylor.

Over the course of the two years, various investigative techniques led to the indictment of multiple subjects in the Elgin and Taylor areas.

On April 20, the offices executed four Federal search warrants in Williamson and Bastrop County.

The Bastrop County Sheriff's Office SWAT and Criminal Investigations personnel, Agents from DEA- Austin and the Elgin Police Department executed a Federal search warrant at 405 East Second St. in the City of Elgin. Investigators seized approximately 1.2 lbs of cocaine and approximately $47,303 in U.S. currency and one 9mm handgun. Investigators also seized two vehicles.

Subjects arrested from the Elgin area were:

  • Ivan Almazan (25)- Federal Conspiracy to Possess with intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance
  • Mario Almazan (34)- INS Hold
  • Higinio Almazam (26) - Federal Conspiracy to Possess with intent to Distribute a Controlled substance.

"The citizens of Bastrop County will see more multi-agency drug operations in the future. With the cooperation of Law Enforcement Agencies, we can make a difference with the drug and criminal activity in Bastrop County." said Sheriff Terry Pickering.

 

DPS gun left for civilians to find.

AUSTIN, Tx -The Texas Department of Public Safety is trying to figure out how and why one of its troopers left a gun inside a store in Williamson County. DPS will only confirm that an internal investigation is ongoing. The incident happened on Sunday at the Dollar General on Windermer Drive in Plugerville. Pflugerville police are handling the police investigation while DPS conducts an internal investigation.The name of the trooper has not been released. A Pflugerville police dispatcher told KXAN Austin News that no one on duty this evening is authorized to comment on the incident.
