Police to draw blood on New Year's Eve

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police are implementing the no refusal policy for this upcoming New Year's holiday. From 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve until 5 a.m. on New Year's Day, Austin police will order blood draws on people suspected of driving while intoxicated who refuse to submit to a breath test.

This will be the second time APD has instituted the policy in an effort to keep Austin roads safe. Meanwhile, some claim the policy violates civil rights. Let us know what you think on our message board .
