AUSTIN (KXAN) - After the Governor's Mansion suffered fire damage in June, many shortcomings were discovered in the security of the building. When all was said and done, the Texas State Preservation Board hired a new project manager to oversee the restoration of one of Austin's greatest treasures. The new project manager, Dealey Herndon, will organize the assigning construction contracts, architects, engineers and consultants for the process of restoration.
Herndon comes to this project with 35 years of historic preservation experience. She recently worked on Concordia's relocation project and the Women's Museum Project in Fair Park in Dallas. She was the executive director of the Texas State Preservation Board in the early 90s while the Capitol Preservation and Extension Project was going on.
