Where to see the fireworks

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Although some venues have canceled their Fourth of July festivities, here are some Austin locations that are still set to dazzle the night sky this weekend.

• Grey Rock Golf Club scheduled its fireworks show on Friday July 3. The show is set to take place between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. The fifth annual Stars & Stripes Celebration will feature music by Third Language and is located at 7401 State Highway 45 . 
• Avery Ranch Golf Club will be showing a display of fireworks on Friday July 3. The show will be between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. Live music will begin at 7 p.m., and the venue is located at 10500 Avery Club Drive . 
• The largest Independence Day celebration in Austin is set for Saturday July 4 at Lady Bird Lake. The fireworks are scheduled to go off  between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. Lady Bird Lake is located west of the South First Street bridge .
• The Allandale neighborhood will host its 50th Fourth of July parade this Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m. The parade will begin at Bullard and White Rock and will continue on to Gullett School .
• A free public fireworks display is set for 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the San Marcos Plaza Park during Summerfest .

If you are planning your own Fourth of July celebration, the Travis County fire marshal has some safety tips to follow to ensure a safe holiday weekend.

Before you shoot fireworks:

•  Do not let your children buy fireworks without adult supervision
•  Only buy from reliable fireworks sellers
•  Never experiment or attempt to make your own fireworks
•  Store fireworks in a cool, dry place
•  Find a smooth, flat surface away from the house and other buildings, or dry leaves and grass
•  Be sure to have water handy in case of a malfunction or fire
•  Always have adult supervision

When you are ready to shoot fireworks:

• Never allow children to play with or ignite fireworks
• Always read and follow label directions, warnings and instructions
• Be considerate of your neighbors
• Only ignite fireworks outdoors and away from houses and other buildings
• Be sure other people are out of range before lighting fireworks
• Light only one firework at a time
• Never try to re-light fireworks that have not fully functioned
• Never give fireworks to small children, even sparklers can cause serious burns
• Never throw fireworks at another person, vehicle or animal
• Never carry fireworks in your pocket
• Never shoot fireworks in metal or glass containers
• Dispose of spent fireworks properly
