AUSTIN (KXAN) - Reports flooded into KXAN Austin News regarding a large ball of fire soaring across the skies. John Foster with Williamson County said there are no missing aircrafts, and their helicopter search found nothing. NBC in Dallas, KXAS, also received reports Sunday of a fireball in the sky.
Sightings of the fireball came from from Caldwell and Llano counties, Round Rock, Spicewood, Georgetown, Cedar Park and all areas of Austin. KXAN contacted law enforcement in each area, but none have been able to confirm the origin of the ball of fire, which reportedly had a trail of smoke following it.
There was some speculation that the debris could have come from the collision of the satellite's that occurred earlier this week, but Austin Planetarium executive director Torvald Hessel strongly denies the thought that the fireball was debris from the satellite wreckage.
More information will be provided as the origin of the spectacle is determined.
