ELROY, Texas (AP) - Residents of the tiny southeast Travis County town of Elroy are still buzzing about Tuesday's announcement that a Formula One racetrack will be built here. It was all the talk at the gas station, the general store, and most of all at Wild Bubba's Wild Game Grill on Wednesday.

Wyman "Wild Bubba" Gilliam thinks the track will be good for everyone's business.

"I'm not mainly concerned about just my business. I'm looking for growth in southeastern Travis County and I think with that everybody will prosper," Gilliam said.

Wild Bubba says he can't wait to offer his antelope, elk, bison, alligator and kangaroo to the international racing types.

"If I were from Brazil or Japan I'd probably say, "Where can I get an antelope burder and a cold Lone Star beer, I guess I'd better head to Wild Bubba's,'" he joked.

Retiree Virgil Litton, born in Elroy and a lifelong resident is equally enthused.

"I know it will mean changes but I welcome that, it's a good thing," Litton said.

Salesman Bryce Crowe welcomes the chance to get groceries or home supplies without having to travel to Buda or Austin.

"I have to go all the way into town just to get one auto part. It takes an hour and a half," Crowe explained.

Everyone KXAN News spoke with agreed the first thing they want to see here is a full-size grocery store.
