LIBERTY HILL, Texas (KXAN) - The victim of a December 3rd structure fire in Liberty Hill has been identified as 51-year-old Ruben Guillen.

The cause of the fire is still unknown according to Sergeant John Foster of the Williamson County Sheriff's Office.

Williamson County Authorities told KXAN the victim was a man confined to a wheelchair and lived alone.

The first 911 call came in around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, but the fire spread quickly. Authorities said the mobile home was in poor condition even before the fire and firefighters were carefully going through the house to be sure there were no additional victims.

A neighbor, Hector Serrato, tried to rescue the man inside, but the fire and smoke prevented him from entering the trailer.

"When they saw the smoke coming they just ran to and tried to break the windows but they couldn't get to him," said Serrato's daughter, Jessica Serrato.

Investigators are trying to determine how the fire started.

"The fire is so devastating- its going to be hard to come up with a conclusion over how it began- our investigation is going to focus on any type of foul play," said Sgt. John Foster with the Williamson County Sheriff's Office.
