LEANDER, Texas (KXAN) - A 4-year-old boy was saved from drowning at a Lake Travis water park Wednesday evening.
Witnesses saw the boy under water around 6:30 p.m. at the Volente Beach Water Park on Wharf Cove.
A lifeguard and two park visitors, who also happened to be nurses, worked to resuscitate the boy after they pulled him from the water with no pulse.
"I was very concerned because he wasn't having any response to verbal stimulation at all- they were telling him squeeze my hand and he wasn't," said Sharon Van Boven, one of the park visitors who worked to save the boy.
Dozens of park goers, along with the boy's anxious parents, looked on and within minutes, he was breathing again.
"They were all on the spot immediately and they worked with him and within a few minutes brought him back to life and I am so grateful," said park owner Jill Redmond. "When we saw his color good and him crying and crying hard and him kicking we felt like we were very happy for this little boy and for his parents."
The boy was taken to Dell Children's Hospital and is expected to recover. Witnesses said he had a large cut on his forehead and they think he might have hit his head causing him to lose consciousness and go under water.
