AUSTIN (KXAN) - On Saturday a group a military children were able to use technology to be face to face with their parents, who are currently deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The children, ages 5-18, participated in the One World Summer Performing Arts Camp, where they prepared a full-length musical production which hit the stage yesterday for their adoring audience. Part of that audience experienced this performance via video conferencing.
This was all made possible with the combining efforts of not only the camp, but The American Red Cross and LifeSizes. LifeSizes allows people to experience communication in high definition. According to LifeSize’s CEO Craig Malloy, they believe in the power of high definition video communication to improve our work and the quality of our lives. Their participation in the One World event is surely proof of this. The combined efforts allowed these children to see their parents clearly for the first time in months.
