AUSTIN (KXAN) - Senator Dan Patrick, of District 7, is originally from Baltimore but has been a Texan since working for a Houston television station in 1979. His roots in the media don’t stop there. Senator Patrick has an impressive resume in radio and T.V. In 1988 he launched talk radio KSEV and soon after discovered a little known national host, Rush Limbaugh. His group added KPRC radio in 1992 and then sold the stations joining San Antonio-based Clear Channel Communications. He says he has always been involved in politics so the crossover was not a difficult one for him. These days he joins the two passions by making appearances as a political commentator on such shows as The O’Reilly Factor and Hannity and Colmes. The Senator took the time to visit an Austin show, KXAN’s Sunday edition of the Session ’09 show with Jenny Hoff.

The Senator was an open book as he answered the many questions that Jenny posed. He spoke about his involvement in several bills, including the highly debated topic of illegal immigration. Patrick was at ease in discussing his intentions with those bills and others that have created outrage among some. Among the topics are abortion, stem cell research, sanctuary cities and even a documentary about Texas. The Senator offered a confident dialogue on the Sunday morning show which proved that he is secure in his political stances. Senator Patrick was straight forward in his interview and even was quick to admit that he is often labeled as the most conservative Senator in Texas.
