AUSTIN (KXAN) - Several animals from the fire-threatened Bastrop Animal Shelter have been rescued and are in the process of being brought to Austin Pets Alive after the shelter was evacuated Sunday evening.

Austin Pets Alive volunteers drove into Bastrop to rescue 160 animals from the shelter.

They will be brought to Austin Pets Alive at 2807 Manchaca Road. In order to make room for the animals, the shelter is waiving all adoption fees for cats and dogs.
