Texas joins another multistate lottery

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Texas has joined another big multistate lottery. 

Powerball tickets went on sale in the state Sunday. Powerball joins Mega Millions as the two multistate drawings Texans can now hope to win big.

You can buy tickets now, and the first drawing Texas will be a part of takes place Wednesday.

KXAN Austin News could not find a whole lot of people rushing out to buy tickets Sunday, but that may be because the jackpot is at a relatively low $107 million right now.

You can put that into perspective considering the biggest ever Powerball Jackpot is $363 million back in March 2007.  Mega Millions has had a bigger jackpot claimed $390 million in February 2006. 

However, the largest Mega Millions winner in Texas brought home $144 million.
