House fire leaves family homeless

AUSTIN (KXAN) - A family is homeless after officials say they left some food on the stove unattended.

The fire happened around 4 p.m. Saturday in the 9400 block of Grouse Meadow Drive.

There was significant damage to the kitchen area, leaving two adults and two children homeless.  Fortunately, no one was injured.  

The American Red Cross is on the scene providing assistance.
