AUSTIN (KXAN) - Suspended Longhorns baseball coach Augie Garrido and University of Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds met with the media Friday to publicly address Garrido's Jan. 17 arrest for the first time. Garrido will serve a four-game suspension to start the season which starts on Feb. 20.

"I will grow and give back from this mistake," Garrido said.  "I will show you I can be a better person, coach, and mentor.  I apologize to all of those involved.  I won't disappoint you."

Garrido was arrested early Saturday, Jan. 17 for drunk driving in downtown Austin.  The university responded by suspending him with pay.  The Longhorns are ranked No. 8 pre-season by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and No. 4 by Baseball America.
