AUSTIN (AP) - U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, running for Texas governor, is calling for increased transparency at the Texas Department of Transportation and wants to build a high-speed rail network connecting Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.
Hutchison laid out her transportation plan at a campaign swing in Tyler Tuesday morning, with other stops planned in Waco and Dallas.
She called for more restrictions on toll roads, greater financial accountability, a restructuring of the Texas Transportation Commission and the creation of a special committee to help foster new policy initiatives.
