HOUSTON (KXAN) - Sen. Rodney Ellis, D-Houston, called Houston Mayor Bill White a political icon.
"I've known Bill since we've both had hair," said Ellis.
He attended law school with White in 1978.
"I knew then he was destined for greatness, either in the private sector or the public sector."
Ellis will be warming up the crowd before White's family introduces him right after 9 p.m. to presumably present a victory speech.
