AUSTIN (KXAN) - The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People filed an official complaint about Pearce Middle School.

The organization filed the complaint with the U.S. Department of Education against the Texas Education Agency, claiming the quality of teachers at Pearce Middle School was not equal to those at other Austin middle schools.

Close to 200 local leaders and lawmakers urged the TEA and the Austin Independent School District to move quickly on repurposing the middle school.

The TEA has not commented on the complaint because it said the agency has not received it.
