Search firm hired to find permanent replacement

AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Lake Travis Independent School District has named Deputy Superintendent Susan Bohn as interim superintendent while an executive search firm scouts for someone to assume the job permanently.

Bohn, who also serves as the district general counsel, will fill in for former Superintendent Rocky Kirk, who resigned last week.

“I am humbled and honored by the confidence the Board has expressed in naming me interim superintendent,” Bohn, a district employee since 2006, said in a news release distributed by the school district. “The Board of Trustees and our community have extremely high expectations, which we will meet, even in the interim before a new permanent superintendent is named."

The school board has asked Bohn to focus on four issues while the search for a new superintendent moves forward:

  • Increase expectations to continue the upward performance trajectory of students and staff.
  • Closely manage the District’s budget and implement planned spending cuts to maintain its financial integrity.
  • Provide Lake Travis community members with the information they need to understand the November 2011 bond referendum.
  • Continue with plans and preparations for a successful start to the 2011-2012 school year, including the district’s 30th anniversary celebration.

School Executive Consulting is conducting the search for the school district.
