Austin hosts the Latino Learning Fair

AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Austin School District held a special event for Spanish-speaking students and parents Saturday.

The "Feria Para Aprender" or "Learning Fair" took place at the Travis County Expo Center.

The fair gave information in Spanish about educational opportunities offered in Austin.

"It helps give education to parents who would not otherwise know where to go or what to do to help with their students for the future in college and currently for the Austin public schools," said Parent Anna Buentello.

the event featured the largest book giveaway in Texas, doling out more than 17,500 childrens books.
