School, business, service delays and cancellations

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Wednesday delays and closures.

Delays

  • All schools in the Hutto, Leander, Llano, Burnet, Marble Falls, Killeen, Bartlett and Navarro independent school districts will start classes two hours late Wednesday morning.
  • Jarrell Independent School District will have a 10 a.m. start time, and buses are running two hours late.
  • Some WBC Opportunities Head Start campuses are opening two hours late: Baghdad Head Start in Leander, Bartlett Head Start, Burnet Marble Falls, Granite Shoals Head Start, Hutto Head Start, Marble Falls Head Start
  • LGBT Austin Men's fellowship meeting at Bull Creek Park has been rescheduled to the Austin Country Club for noon Wednesday.
     

Closures and cancellations

Austin Parks and Recreation Department

  • The Austin Parks and Recreation Department Golf Division reports that all golf courses are currently open. However, due to the heavy rains some golf courses are limiting play to nine holes. Worsening weather conditions could possibly close play at some or all of the City's golf courses later today. A media advisory will be distributed if any golf courses are closed. Golf patrons are encourage to call ahead.
  • The Barton Creek Greenbelt will be closed until early next week. Staff report flooding in the greenbelt and persons are encourage to stay away from the greenbelt until flooding subsides and trail conditions return to normal. A media advisory will be distributed as soon as staff determine a re-opening date for the Barton Creek Greenbelt.
  • The Austin Parks and Recreation Department Aquatic Division has closed Barton Springs Pool due to flooding. Once the flooding stops staff will clean the pool of debris, silt and assess conditions at the pool. Deep Eddy Pool will have a temporary revised schedule to accommodate Barton Springs Pool patrons beginning Thursday, August 9th. While Barton Springs Pool is closed the hours of operation for Deep Eddy Pool will be as follows:

                                                          Monday - Friday 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

                                                         Saturday and Sunday 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
 

Capital Metro

  • Capital MetroRail service will not run Wednesday morning due to water across the tracks in several locations. MetroRail service will not run Wednesday afternoon due to damage and debris from flooding. Officials said they should know later Wednesday whether they'll be able to resume service Thursday.

Cedar Park

  • New Hope First Baptist Church Preschool cancelled for Wednesday.

Georgetown

  • Southwestern University in Georgetown is canceling all morning classes. They said no one but essential employees should report to campus.
  • Georgetown Independent School District has canceled classes for the day.
  • Kiddie College Daycare in Georgetown will be closed for the day.
  • Some WBC Opportunities Head Start campuses are closed Wednesday: Mary Bailey Head Start in Georgetown and Rawleigh Elliott Head Start also in Georgetown
  • Carver Elementary is closed Wednesday. Buses can't run routes due to regional flooding.

Round Rock

  • Chisolm Trail Middle School in Round Rock ISD cancels classes for Wednesday. All other campuses in Round Rock ISD are open and will begin classes at the regular time.

YMCA

  • Due to heavy rains throughout the past 24 hours, the Townlake YMCA is experiencing heavy flooding and plumbing issues in its facility. Officials are postponing opening for Wednesday until noon at the earliest.

Remaining open

Austin

  • Austin Independent School District officials there are no school closures anticipated. Some buses will be rerouted but are still scheduled to run on their regular schedules.
  • No delays on inbound or outbound flights at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Comal ISD

  • Comal Independent School District is operating on a normal schedule for Wednesday. All schools will be open at regular operating times. However, Comal ISD will not be able to pick up students who ride the bus and live in low-lying areas or areas that usually flood. These areas affect about three or four Comal ISD bus routes. All other bus routes will run as usual and at regular times as much as possible. There may be some delays.
     

Eanes ISD

  • Eanes Independent School District will operate as normal with no delays Wednesday.

New Braunfels ISD

  • New Braunfels Independent School District will be opening on time.
