AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin Independent School District started summer hours Monday, going to a four-day-a-week schedule now through July 25.
In addition, the district offices will be closed from July 4 through July 8.
The two changes will save the district approximately $471,000 in costs, according to district officials.
Summer office hours are Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Employees will work a 10-hour day on a flexible schedule.
The five-day-per-week schedule resumes Aug. 1. Classes for the new school year start Aug. 22.
