AUSTIN (KXAN) - Longhorns head baseball coach Augie Garrido, 69, pleads guilty to a drunken driving charge Monday morning. The charge came after Garrido was arrested in January after a traffic stop. Garrido admitted to police that he had more than a few glasses of wine and was intoxicated around 1 a.m. Jan. 17.

It only took a few minutes for the coach to enter his guilty plea Monday, and he is scheduled to be sentenced in late April. Garrido has already been suspended for the Longhorns first four games of the season, and the coach said he is prepared to accept whatever punishment the court determines is fair.

"I think it's consistent with the penalty that goes along with the offense," said Garrido. "It's important to get that behind us and to be responsible and accountable for it."

Garrido has won five national championships as a head baseball coach.
