AUSTIN (KXAN) - Thieves targeted cars parked near the hike-and-bike trail around Lady Bird Lake on Friday morning.

Witnesses said the thieves broke into several cars parked under the MoPac bridge on the South side of the lake, breaking out the windows to steal things inside.

A witness said he saw four girls breaking into the cars but that they got away before police could get there.

The area under the MoPac bridge is a popular place to park for people who run on the trail around the lake.
