(KXAN) - Drunk driver nearly hits school bus

A drunk driver almost hits a school bus and is arrested with a young child in the car she was driving, according to police.

On Monday, a Travis County sheriff arrested Krista Rothans, 24, after a witness called 911 to report a reckless driver. According to the witness, Rothans was crossing the double yellow lines and almost struck a school bus on Oasis Bluff.

When the deputy pulled Rothans over, he said she smelled like alcohol and found bottles of beer on the floor of the passenger side. Rothans 8-year-old son was inside the car.

Drunk driver crashes into tractor-trailer

A drunk driver crashed into a tractor-trailer, leaving a woman without her right hand and incritical condition.

Police said on Sunday around 11:30 p.m., they were called to 8600 North Interstate 35 to a serious crash. Police found a 1996 Toyota had crashed into a 1999 Kenworth tractor-trailer.

The woman in the Toyota with Jerson Humberto Garcia, 26, was seriously hurt and both of them had to be extracted from the vehicle. Police ordered a mandatory blood draw and Garcia’s blood alcohol content was .22-percent.

Police on the lookout for purse snatcher.

Over the past two months, purse snatching incidents have been report at local Austin grocery stores. Each occurring at different locations, no injuries have insued.

The five seperate cases occurred when the women were unloading groceries into their cars. The purses were reportedly in the cart while the women were unloading. No suspect description has been provided, but the women reported three seperate detailed accounts of the vehicle. They are a Black 1999 Mazda Texas license plate number-BJ2J874, a Black 1996 Acura Texas license plate number-NJX878, and a Red Chevrolet Malibu.
