Texas criminal caught in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, La. (AP) - The FBI's SWAT team and New Orleans Violent Crime Task Force has arrested a 40-year-old New Orleans man wanted on rape and murder charges in Texas.

Anthony Wayne O'Neal was arrested shortly before noon Thursday, while walking down a street in his hometown.

According to an FBI press release, O'Neal was being sought for an alleged murder in Temple, Texas and sexual assault in Lorena, Texas, which occurred on Aug. 22. The FBI says O'Neal then allegedly stole the assault victim's vehicle which was recovered in Rayne, La. on Aug. 23.

O'Neal was arrested without incident. He's being held in custody in Louisiana, pending extradition.
