ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) - A stolen truck from the Dallas-Fort Worth area led to a car chase, crash and a suspect fleeing on foot.

A dealership in Bedford - in Northeast Tarrant County near Fort Worth - reported a stolen 2005 blue Dodge Ram to the police Wednesday night. The dealership had a GPS system in the stolen vehicle, so they used that technology to track the truck's location.

An auto sales representative activated the GPS and found the car on Thursday in Salado. Salado police located the truck and tried to apprehend the driver, but he would not yield. Once police found the truck was heading towards Williamson County, Bedford police alerted the authorities to the whereabouts of the truck and to help them with the driver's apprehension.

Williamson County police tracked the truck heading southbound on Interstate 35 and caught up to the truck around the State Highway 45 frontage road and CR 172. A short chase ensued.

The suspect wrecked the vehicle during the chase and fled on foot. The police searched for the suspect west of CR 172 and near Highway 45 in a rural area, but did not find him. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male wearing a green shirt and blue jeans and should be extremely wet and muddy due to the weather.

The search was called off around 1 p.m.
