FAYETTE COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) - Police recovered a stolen car in Fayette County after a car chase that began on the interstate headed into the city and ended in a pasture.

It happened Friday near the Flatonia area when K-9 Deputy Randy Thumann was patrolling Interstate 10 looking for drug activity near mile marker 659.

Thumann ran the license plate of the car heading east on the interstate, and it came back to a car stolen from Alice, Texas.

Flatonia police and Department of Public Safety troopers joined Thumann in the chase along the interstate as the car exited and drove through the city of Flatonia.

The chase then headed through the golf course and eventually into a pasture, where the three men inside abandoned it and ran away.

Authorities found the men and chased them across I-10 and then into a wooded area, where they lost them.

One of the suspects tossed a gun, which officials said came back as stolen from the Houston area.

Police are still looking for the suspects.
