Six Del Valle buildings reopen

Schools, buildings were on lockdwon

DEL VALLE, Texas (KXAN) - The lockdown mandate for six Del Valle schools and buildings on Ross Road lifted after the places locked down when a driver rear-ended a Travis County van at the justice complex entrance and left the scene, according to officials.

Travis County Sheriff’s Office informed the district that the driver ran away following an automobile crash Monday morning at the entrance of the justice complex at FM 973 and Bill Price Road .

The Travis County Sheriff's Office called off the search around 12:30 p.m. after looking for him for some time. Officials said there is no word on why he ran.

Del Valle Elementary , Middle and High schools were all on lockdown as a precaution. Also on lockdown were the Del Valle Opportunity Center , day care and administration building all on Ross Road.

During the lockdown, Travis County school resource officers monitored the schools.

Meanwhile, Travis County sheriff's deputies said there is still no other information on the suspect who fled the scene.
