TAYLOR, Texas (KXAN) - A seemingly random drive-by shooting in the early morning hours Friday peppered a vehicle parked in front of  a home, according to Taylor police.

Taylor Police Department Capt. David Klausman said the shooting happened around 3:50 a.m. when officers responded to shots fired in the residential area around 2100 Whistling Way .

Police said they believe the suspects were 'driving by' as they shot at the empty vehicle parked on the street in front of a home.

Klausman said all the shots went into the vehicle, though one did ricochet off the home's garage door.

Investigators said witnesses in the area said a vehicle sped off shortly after the shooting.

Taylor police said the incident appears to be random and that they have no reason to believe the vehicle was targeted by the suspects.

The investigation is ongoing.
