AUSTIN (KXAN) - Thomas Chaky, 31, was arrested and charged with boating while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, Saturday on Lake Travis.

Police say officers working with the Lower Colorado River Authority saw Chaky driving a white fishing boat in a reckless manner, specifically, making a sharp turn and almost capsizing his boat.

A court affidavit goes on to state that Chaky was later seen trying to pick up a wake boarder he was towing and drove within three to four feet of the person's head at a high rate of speed.

Chaky, however, did not hit the wake boarder.

Officers stopped Chaky, who they say "refused" to take a field sobriety test, according to the affidavit.
