(CNN) - U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force Inspector Alex Camacho led Tuesday's effort to find a wanted Texas man. Albert Turner's car was discovered submerged in the Chattahoochee River around 12:30, but Turner has vanished.
His car, now in the Cobb police evidence facility, being looked over for clues.
"At this time, we have no known reason why he'd be in the Atlanta area," said Camacho.
Turner has been on the run from the Houston, Texas area since Sunday. Rosenberg, Texas police said he killed his wife and mother-in-law. Neighbors said the couple had a rocky history.
"She was scared of him," said Leaetta Horn, a neighbor. "She was petrified of him. The kids were scared of him."
Texas authorities reportedly had no leads as to where the prison guard had fled to, until Tuesday, when his car was spotted in Atlanta. U.S. Marshals are now trying to pick up his trail.
"We don't think that we are that far behind him," said Officer Joe Hernandez with Cobb County Police Department.
