AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police have released a surveillance video that may give some clues into the murder of an Austin man last month.

A patrol car video captured the image of a man walking from the scnee as officers arrived. Homicide detectives are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the possible witnesses.

Last month, friends and family gathered for a candlelight vigil at Kreig Field in Southeast Austin for a man they said was an avid baseball player and devoted father.

The  vigil was for Buddy Ryan Reyna, 28, who Austin police found shot to death early Saturday morning, April 10, in the parking lot of the Deerfield Apartments on Brodie Lane south of William Cannon Drive after a suspected altercation with an apartment stranger.

Neighbors called police around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, reporting gunshots in the area.

Police said they believe the confrontation led to a collision in the parking lot, where a 2005 white Cadillac Escalade is involved.

Authorities said they believe the vehicle belongs to another resident of the apartment complex and that there was more than one person in the vehicle.

Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating anyone in the vehicle on the early Saturday morning. Investigators said there is no evidence Reyna knew his attacker and are still trying to establish a motive.

Meanwhile, the Escalade driver is a "person of interest" in the case.

Investigators asked that people be on the lookout for the white vehicle, dented in on one side in the front with a broken headlight. Officials said the damage was caused when the suspect vehicle struck other vehicles parked in the apartment complex.

This is Austin's eighth homicide of the year and the third homicide in April.
