AUSTIN (KXAN) - Police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run Tuesday morning after a driver hit and killed a man riding his bicycle on the frontage road of U.S. Highway 183.

It happened in the northbound service lanes of the highway near Technology.

Late Tuesday, police released the victim's name. He is Justin Patrick Murphy, 25.

Several callers tipped off police around 10:30 p.m. Monday about a man lying in the roadway on the frontage road of U.S. Highway 183 in Northwest Austin.

The driver of a Ford F-150 of unknown color who hit him never stopped. Police said the vehicle's front-end and passenger-side headlight were damaged

Detectives spent much of the night analyzing debris found at the scene of what they believe is the vehicle that hit this man. Now they hope to find this driver to figure out what happened.

"It could be the person who hit him was not at fault," said Sgt. Anthony Bigongiari. "That's why our detectives are analyzing the debris at the scene."
