AUSTIN (KXAN) - Chad Kettering, a 22-year-old Austin man, faces an aggravated assault charge for allegedly cutting his friend's throat during a fight Saturday evening.
Police said it happened around 6 p.m. in the 12000 block of Heinemann Drive.
A court affidavit shows Kettering's mother was giving her son and his 21-year-old friend a ride when Kettering turned up the music in the car.
When Kettering's mother asked him to turn it down he started cursing at her and his friend stood up for his mother, according to the affidavit.
Police said the friends started to fight and it escalated when Kettering told his friend to get out of the car and fight with him.
Kettering's mother drove back to their home and when they got out of the car Kettering and his friend continued to fight, a court affidavit states.
The affidavit goes on to state that the suspect ran into his home, grabbed a large kitchen knife and cut his friend in the throat in front of his mother.
Police said the 21-year-old friend was rushed to a hospital by a neighbor.
There is no word on the man's condition.
