AUSTIN (KXAN) - A pedestrian came close to being hit by an alleged drunk driver early Sunday morning.
According to an arrest affidavit Daniel Ramos, 37, was traveling in the 400 block of south IH 35 around 12:30 a.m. when an Austin Police patrol officer noticed a traffic backup in the right lane.
The APD officer noticed a black truck swerve into a right turn only lane causing the person in the lane to swerve and avoid an accident.
Police say Ramos allegedly stopped in the lane, impeding traffic before slowly moving halfway into the right lane.
According to the arrest affidavit Ramos made a sharp right turn from the frontage road of IH-35 onto César Chavez, and “came close to hitting a pedestrian that was standing on the sidewalk.”
Ramos was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
