Officials focus on teen in bank robbery

AUSTIN (KXAN) - A 15-year-old is the prime suspect in the robbery of the Austin Telco Credit Union bank at 8929 Shoal Creek Boulevard . The teen's brother, Anthony Wayne Burdett Jr., 35, is charged with robbery and evading arrest in connection with the case. 

Austin Police Department detectives said the teen handed the bank teller a note demanding cash Friday before jumping into a green Kia sedan with his brother and leading police on a brief chase. However, the chase came to an end when the Kia crashed into another vehicle.

Though the teen left the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash, the bank later recovered the money because it was marked. Police said Burdett's teenage brother may also be involved in other bank robberies in Austin and Waco. 

Both suspects remain in police custody.
