LA GRANGE, Texas (KXAN) - Police in Fayette County uncovered approximately 112 pounds of marijuana hidden within a truck that was stopped at a rest stop along Interstate 10 on Monday.
The sheriff’s office reports the department’s K-9 unit got a hit on the vehicle and after speaking with the occupants, several criminal indicators were present.
Further investigation of the truck revealed the gas tank of the Ford F-150 was full of marijuana bundles.
The truck was moved to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, where the bed of the truck was removed so officers could access the tank. After opening the tank, officers uncovered 45 bundles of marijuana which had a street value of $50,000.
According to the department, Margarita Perz De Diaz, 37, and Rogelio Diaz, 38, of Rio Grande City were arrested and taken to the Fayette County Jail.
