New lead in Buda homicide case

AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Hays County Sheriff's Office is searching for Mark David Simmons, who is now named as a "person of interest" in the death of Steven Wayne Woelfel, 55.

Simmons is one of the last known people to have been in the company of the victim.

There is an active warrant for Simmons out of Rockport connected to a failure to appear in court on a weapons violation.  Deputies warn that Simmons should be considered armed and dangerous.

Simmons is believed to be driving a blue/silver 2008 Hyundai Sonata with Texas license plates FKR-062.  The car was stolen from Aransas County. 

Victim Woelfel was found dead on April 17th in his garage at 1132 Live Oak Loop in Buda.  Firefighters found Woelfel while fighting a fire in the garage.
