Man charged in hit-and-run death

AUSTIN (KXAN) - A man has been charged in a hit-and-run death in North Austin.

Police said they think Santos Matutecebilla, 34, was driving the car that hit and killed a 59-year-old woman on Dec. 22.

The victim was walking along St. John's Boulevard near I-35 when she was hit by a car that hit a curb and rolled over.

Police said they think the driver, Matutecebilla, was actually fleeing the scene of another crash when he hit and killed the woman.

Matutecebilla faces a second-degree felony manslaughter charge and a charge of failure to stop and render aid.
